Marty Zak of Willowick, who served in Beirut in 1981, never met Daugherty but still fought back tears while leaning up against the memorial stone, which reads, “They came in peace.”
“I didn’t know him, but he was a Marine and that is all that counts,” he said. “This means a lot because people in Beirut never really got recognized.
The Leathernecks MC, Gold Star Chapter was honored to have the opportunity to support the Corporal Dougherty Memorial Park in Eastlake, Ohio. As Marines, Corpsman & veterans, we hold these memorials as a solemn vow of “None Forgotten, None Left Behind”.

“Marine’s trip home to pass alma mater”.
When the second Glen Este High School graduate killed in Iraq returns home for the last time, the procession from Lunken Airport will travel past his alma mater, his parent’s house and the home of his grandfather, all in Union Township.Wojciechowski will be return home at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 7, to Lunken Airport.
His body will be brought to Clermont County in a procession starting a Lunken and ending at Nurre Funeral Home on Ohio Pike. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, May 8, at the Mt. Carmel Christian Church on Mt. Carmel-Tobasco Road with the memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery for family and friends.
The procession will begin at Lunken, travel east on Wilmer, Beechmont Avenue, Ohio 32, Glen Este-Withamsville Road, Clough Pike, Edinburgh Drive, Cannon Gate Drive, Regent Road, Mt. Carmel-Tobasco Road to Ohio Pike and Nurre.
