8th ANNUAL RALLY FOR TROOPS SUNDAY IN DOWNTOWN CLEVELAND’S PUBLIC SQUARE
The 8th Annual Rally for Troops will take place on Sunday April 25, 2010 in downtown Cleveland’s Public Square. As in past years, more than 3000 motorcyclists from all over Ohio and the general public will meet in front of the Terminal Tower complex to honor Ohio’s Fallen Heroes, their families and all our veterans.
The ceremony will begin at 11:00 AM with presentation of the colors by the Wadsworth VFW. Jim Mantel of WGAR will be the Master of Ceremonies and Monica Robins of WKYC will sing the National Anthem, as she has for the past seven years. Organizer, John “KIKS” Kikol indicated that the speakers this year will include Robert Gilbert, proud father of Gy. Sgt. Robert Lee Gilbert II, KIA 3/16/2010 in Afghanistan and Lora Hall, proud sister of Lance Cpl. David R. Hall, KIA 8/31/09 in Afghanistan. The Rally will conclude with the reading of Ohio’s Fallen Heroes, 21 gun salute by the Strongsville VFW, taps and the Cleveland Firefighters Memorial Pipes and Drums playing Amazing Grace.
Free Parking is available in all Tower City and Network Parking lots for the Rally. The public is encouraged to attend and the Rally will take place regardless of the weather. There is no cost to attend and the public is encouraged to arrive around 10:00 AM to witness the procession of arriving motorcycles.
As in past years, there are a limited number of 2010 Rally for Troops pins and patches that available at Harley Davidson Sales Company of Cleveland, who also sponsors a post Rally gathering with complimentary food and entertainment from 12:30 to 3:00 PM. Proceeds and donations from the Rally will be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation.
