9th Annual Rally for Troops

From Event Organizer John Kikol:

For the past eight years thousands of motorcyclists have come from all over Ohio and neighboring states to attend the Rally for Troops in downtown Cleveland’s Public Square. The Rally begins at 11:00 AM and there is free parking at all Tower City and Network Parking Lots. Organizer, John “KIKS” Kikol started the Rally in April of 2003 as an expression of support for our active military, veterans and Ohio’s Fallen Hero families.

On Sunday May 1, 2011, the 9th Annual Rally for Troops will take place in the southwest quadrant of Cleveland’s Public Square, directly in front of the Tower City Complex. Thanks to various sponsors’ such as Tom Arko’s Eighth Day Sound, of Highland Heights who has donated the professional sound system each year for the Rally, the event will take place regardless of the weather and the public is invited to join in the one hour long ceremony.

Monica Robins, WKYC anchor person, will be the Master of Ceremonies and will sing the National Anthem, as she has for the past eight years. Speakers will include local returning soldiers, past veterans and members of Ohio’s Fallen Hero families.

There will be a reading of all Ohio’s Fallen Heroes followed by a 21-gun salute and the playing of Amazing Grace by members of the Cleveland Firefighters Pipes and Drums. After the Rally concludes there will be a post Rally gathering at Harley Davidson Sales Company located at 14550 Lorain with food and entertainment.

As in past years there is a 2011 Rally patch and pin that can be purchased the day of the Rally, with the proceeds being donated to renovate the USO facility at Hopkins airport. As the banner for the Rally states “The greatest fear of the families of our nation’s Fallen Heroes is that their loved one’s sacrifice will be forgotten”. Kikol, encourages all those supporters of our military and veterans to attend this years Rally to let the families of all Fallen Heroes know that we shall never forget that “Freedom isn’t Free” and we shall not forget their loved one’s sacrifice for future generation’s of Americans.
